Rules Within Pack/Family

Dogs are pack animals and therefore require rules and boundaries based on common sense, compassion and mutual respect. The importance of being a pack leader is not to dominate the dog, but rather to ensure that the dog listens to the owner and behaves appropriately in all circumstances.

Dogs are opportunist, will take advantage of rewards for complying with the trainers instructions, they are not capable of planning ahead and do not consider that they should promote themselves to pack leader in order to better their future nor are they able to determine what the future benefit of being pack leader is.

Being opportunist, dogs will take advantage of a weak and non-consistent trainer, but the raising of their status because of this weakness will not lie easy on their shoulders and this is where discord can arise.
