Going for a daily walk with your dog provides a multitude of benefits. Regular walks will fulfil them mentally, along with keeping both yourself and dog healthy. A lot of the common behavioural problems owners/carers experience (more often than not) stem from a lack of regular exercise. Such behaviours usually result from boredom and frustration.
Your dog is a pack animal and in its natural habitat will spend most of its day walking whilst being guided by the pack leader. Walking will allow your dog to become more socialised and accepting of new situations and environments which will help build their self-confidence.
You will need to adjust the amount of exercise to suit your dog’s age and fitness level.
