About Happy Dogs

Who We Are

Passionate Professionals Dedicated to Your Dog's Well-being

At Happy Dogs, we are a team of experienced and dedicated dog trainers who are committed to helping dogs and their owners build strong bonds. Our positive reinforcement-based approach ensures that every training session is not just educational but also enjoyable for both you and your furry companion.

Martin Pashley MBIPDT

Martin enlisted in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) in early 1988. During his service, he established and managed several dog training clubs, serving both local and military communities in the areas where he was stationed.
Upon departing from the RAVC in September 2000, he assumed the role of Director of Operations at Grosvenor International Services 'GIS', where he trained dogs and handlers for civilian applications, specifically to conduct searches in schools and licensed establishments.
In 2001, Martin assumed the role of Instructional Officer (IO2) for the MOD, a position that was one of only six available globally at that time. His responsibilities included training dogs and handlers as well as sourcing dogs nationwide.
Two years later, plans began to materialize for establishing and operating his own business, 'Happy Dogs,' which serves the pet dog industry. Services include consultations, one-on-one training for dogs, handlers, or both, training courses, dog walking, agility, grooming, specialized working dogs, and the supply of pet food and equipment.
In 2004, 'Happy Dogs' became fully operational, and continues to successfully thrive.
Martin is a ‘Full’ member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers BIPDT (since 1998).
Martin also takes on another role with the Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society as Swimming Instructor and served as the Chairman of the Society Committee for three years (2021-2023), he often assists at Galas as their Announcer. He enjoys taking part and building the children’s water confidence skills – a very important community sport, living so close to the water.

Suzanne Pashley

Suzanne manages the smooth functioning of Happy Dogs' logistics. Her extensive experience comes primarily from being raised with German Shepherd dogs, a breed she knows well.
Before meeting Martin, she balanced her daily job at IBM with volunteering for the Hampshire Constabulary as a Special Constable. She aspired to become a Dog Handler with the Regulars, a dream that later shifted to the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary. However, meeting Martin and starting their own company, HAPPY DOGS, presented an exciting new challenge to pursue.
Suzanne adeptly oversees the administration at Happy Dogs, coordinating course bookings, appointments, and inquiries. In addition, she supports Martin in the majority of training sessions, providing prompt guidance to both the dog owners and Martin, which facilitates a seamless and productive training environment.
Suzanne also does voluntary work for the Cinnamon Trust a very worthy charity that cares for the pets of older people when difficulties arise, i.e. dog walking, fostering and providing home checks for potential foster homes. Please visit the Cinnamon Trust website for further details http://www.cinnamon.org.uk/ or contact Suzanne if you wish to become a volunteer, or if you are over retirement age and require help with your pet (of any kind).
Suzanne also volunteers with Exmouth Swimming and Life Saving Society. Has foretaken many roles over the years; joining the Committee and becoming the clubs Child Welfare Officer and later the Club Secretary. Has now stepped down from the committee and assists when needed on the ‘recording’ desk at home Galas/race timekeeper/registers for LTS.
And if that is not enough, Suzanne is now volunteering for the Beach Wheelchair facility on the seafront, a great facility available (free of charge) for visitors to our lovely beach.  For more information visit Book A Beach Wheelchair – Exmouth Town Council
